UC Shipping/Slash/Fanfiction
Feb. 13th, 2005 05:18 pmI just had a little discusion about Fanfiction and UC shipping (in particular slash) with my gay friend. He just can't understand why to ship something that isn't really there. So I told him that it's all about the subtext. His answer was that it still dosnt matter and that it's totaly silly to do something like that. His exact words where something like "why 'stealing' a character that allready exists and not creating your own". I told him that its all about tribute, that I love a character that mutch that I wana see him in different situations or relationships.
After a while we came to Harry Potter (the only fandom we share expt for Buffy). I asked him wich couple he would chose Hermione/Ron or Hermione/Harry. And he said he would chose H/R because in the books there where some hints. I told him "yeah exactly. There are hints but no actual facts. Thats what I meant when I said it's all about subtext...". That was my 1:0 after nearly 30 minutes talking on ICQ *G* But then he came back to the slash aspect *sigh* I have mentioned that he is gay right? because in the middle of our discusion I really thought that maybe I'm the gay person and not him because he really asked me why I would ship two males. *guh* why not?!
So I throw (?) Harry/Draco in. I mean really, I know that not everyone is into this ship or sees what I see but thats called imagination (I mean Harry/Snape *shudder* but I understand it when you ship them not my pot of tea but hey I don't care as long as you have fun!) but back on topic.
I mean Hate is the next best thing to Love, when you love someone it can turn easily to hate. Ok when Harry came to Hogwarts he was 11 (he said there isn't love when you're 11) there don't has to be love from the beginning it could come in pieces. first you hate him because he rejected you when you where eleven, you wanted his friendship so badly and you just wana make him pay for making you missarable. Then you just be mean to him because that way you know that he knows that you exist and after a while then you see how his hips swing when he walks or how his eyes shine whenever he catches the snitch.
There are a lot stuff you can read into a harmless wink or even a fight. Gosh when I remember my teenage time I remember a lot moments I thought that must be love and then he just wanted my pen *sigh*
You read stuff in everything the other person does. It's like Paul Watzlawick said "du kannst nicht nicht kommunizieren" (I have no idea what it is in english gg (you can not not communicate?)).
In the end he just asked me why JKR would write something like that into her childrens book *sigh* That was the point I gave up *hangs head*
